About Us
The Czech Journal of Economics and Finance (CJEF) is a peer-reviewed academic journal established in 1951 under the original title Finance a úvěr. It is published online and free of charge in English by the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague, and features original, mostly empirical research in all areas of economics and finance.
ISSN 2464-7683 (Online)
ISSN 0015-1920 (Print, until 2023)
The journal has a particular interest in macroeconomics and macro-finance, monetary economics, financial economics and financial markets, public finance, and international economics and finance. While CJEF maintains a preference for empirically oriented research, it also welcomes theoretical and review contributions that offer clear insights and are relevant to economic research and policy.
The journal emphasizes papers with a strong economic contribution, sound methodology, and relevance beyond a single-country context. Comparative and internationally oriented studies are particularly encouraged, as well as well-motivated country analyses with broader economic or policy implications.
CJEF is published quarterly and serves an international audience of academic researchers, policy institutions, central banks, and professionals in economics and finance. The journal operates a double-anonymized peer-review process and is indexed in Web of Science (SSCI), Scopus, EconLit, and RePEc.
There are no submission or publication fees. Articles are made freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0).
The journal follows a selective editorial process. All submissions are initially assessed by the Managing Editor and Co-Editors, with a typical desk decision provided within 7 days to ensure a rapid, efficient review process. The current desk rejection rate is approximately 90%, reflecting the journal’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards.
