Abstract: The paper aims to identify financial liquidity determinants of cooperative banks in Poland in the period of 2008 until 2017. Our research paper reviews pre-crisis and post-crisis regulations in the area of financial liquidity of banks and discusses the research results regarding liquidity determinants of banks that are available in the literature. In order to analyze the liquidity determinants of cooperative banks, we collected panel data of 350 cooperative banks operating in Poland. The results showed that the level of cooperative banks’ short-term financial liquidity depends on the level of banking market concentration, credit policy, solvency ratios, revenue structure, and quality of credit exposures. However, long-term financial liquidity is affected by GDP dynamics (for large banks), banking market concentration, interest rates, profitability, and cost efficiency. Additionally, long- term liquidity- for small and medium-sized banks – depends also on capital adequacy ratio and NPL ratio.
