Year: 2002 Volume: 52 Issue: 11 Pages: 640-642
Abstract: The paper looks at various theoretical approaches that attempt to analyze voter’s decision making during periods of economic transition. Reform paradox, myopic voter, reform costs and the social-economic effect of reforms on voters’ preferences are discussed. The author reviews several models of voting, such as: the model of standard economic choice, the model of inter-temporal voting, and a model that takes government as the antidote to the economy.
