Czech Journal of Economics and Finance Enters a New Era with a New Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Team, and Website

Our scientific journal, the Czech Journal of Economics and Finance (formerly Finance a úvěr), is moving to its new chapter. Simona Malovaná has been appointed the new Managing Editor. She is affiliated with the Institute of Economic Studies at Charles University’s Faculty of Social Sciences and also serves as the Director of Research and Statistics Department at the Czech National Bank. She will be joined by Jiří Kukačka from the Institute of Economic Studies and Martin Hodula from the Czech National Bank, who also teaches at the Technical University of Ostrava, as co-editors. Together, this team of experienced academics aims to further enhance the journal’s quality, visibility, and academic impact, seamlessly building upon the commendable work of the previous editor-in-chief, Roman Horváth from the IES, whom we would like to thank.

The Czech National Bank has become a stronger partner of the journal, contributing through both direct representation on the editorial team and financial support. Through closer cooperation with the CNB, the journal seeks to strengthen its role in disseminating research outcomes from international projects and conferences involving central banks, including the European Central Bank, as well as leading European universities.

At the same time, the journal’s website at its traditional address, journal.fsv.cuni.cz, has undergone a major revamping. The new website offers a clearer structure, improved security, and a fully responsive design suitable for both desktop and mobile devices. The journal’s new logo reflects its international focus by dropping the original Czech title, Finance a úvěr, and emphasizing its English-language identity that has long been established through the journal’s practice of publishing articles exclusively in English.

Founded in 1951 under the original title Finance a úvěr, the journal focuses primarily on empirical research across all areas of economics and finance, without geographical restrictions. The official publisher is the Institute of Economic Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. The journal is published quarterly and serves an international audience of academic researchers, policymakers, central banks, and professionals in economics and finance. It is indexed in Web of Science (SSCI), Scopus, EconLit, and RePEc. There are no submission or publication fees. All published articles are freely available on the journal’s website under an open-access model.
